4G consumer advice
4G mobile phones are built to work on specific types of frequencies depending on your mobile operator.
If you are thinking of buying a new handset in preparation for when 4G launches in the UK then you need to make sure that you choose a handset that runs 4G on several different frequencies.
This is because a 4G phone will only work on frequencies it was designed to use. Some of the major mobile operators may use different frequencies to deliver 4G services. Therefore, if you sign up to a 4G contract with EE for example and then decide to switch to a SIM only with Vodafone, you may lose the 4G functionality of your phone.
