The ultimate smartwatch from TAG Heuer
This is the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 and is the Swiss watchmaker's second connected watch but the world's first true Swiss smartwatch.
In this updated version the watch is 1mm smaller (now measuring 45mm in diameter) whilst giving the option to choose between a connected module and just a normal mechanical mode which provides adaptability to suit different situations.
There are a number of reasons that make this the ultimate smartwatch:-
1. It's Swiss Made
There are a few connected watches which were 'assembled in Switzerland' but this watch is the first to achieve a 'Swiss Made' certification. This has been achieved as the new watch incorporates many traditional watchmaking techniques which denotes a certain attention to detail, rigour and accuracy, whilst guaranteeing the highest standards of Swiss watchmaking quality.
2. It's very modular
One of the problems with smartwatches is that they're not very personal but the TAG Heuer Connected brings a different dynamic with a high level of modularity with over 4000 unique configurations.
Not only can you swap between a connected module (with a digital face) and a Haute Horlogerie mechanical module you will also be able to choose the materials, colours, lugs, straps and buckles.
With the two basic watches with 11 references and another 46 available when you opt to personalise online - giving you the ability to tailor the watch to suit your situation or mood.
3. It's still a luxury timepiece
Tag are still using the highest quality materials for this watch keeping it a luxury item. Materials include titanium, ceramic and rose gold.
4. Its developed in partnership with Google and Intel
Like on TAG watches before, they work closely with Intel and Google in development which gives the benefit of combining knowledge and experience from these three companies.
Powered by an Intel Atom Z34XX processor, it makes sure that the watch is nice and snappy.
It also comes complete with 4GB storage, WiFi and GPS.
5. It'll run Android Wear 2.0 and works better with iPhones
The watch comes with Android Wear 2.0, the latest and also greatest version of Google's wearable OS. The ability to run standalone apps, Google Assistant, an improved UI and watch face complications all demonstrate the biggest improvements. However, iPhone users will see the greater benefit with having the ability to download and run third party apps which have been previously unavailable.
6. A stunning screen
Previously the dull, low-resolution screen has been one of the most disappointing factors of TAG's first connected watch, so it's great to see an upgraded display on this second version. It features a bright and colourful AMOLED display which is covered by sapphire crystal glass.
7. Waterproof to 50 metres
A great addition now matching the Apple Watch Series 2. The watch comes complete with a water-resistant microphone and speaker enabling you to still use the watch for voice calls and Google Assistant.
8. Pay via Android Pay
The watch packs an NFC chip which when combined with Android Wear 2.0 allows you to make contactless payments with Android Pay.
9. There's a tourbillon model
Yes, there is definitely a tourbillon model which will set you back a cool ?14,000. Not sure what a tourbillon is, check out http://ow.ly/1BJ5309XCxt
10. 24 hours battery life
TAG claims the watch comes complete with "a latest-generation lithium battery providing over 24 active hours of power". It's not quite as good as the Gear S3 but it's great to know that it will last a full day.
