Cold weather, this could affect your phone signal

The Met Office have issued a warning about the cold spell expected for this week and next but they have also warned that the cold spell could also affect mobile phone connectivity. Some of the warnings go as far to say that some parts of the UK could lose mobile phone signal completely. With some 5-10cm expected on some parts of the country, more disruption other than on roads is expected.

The Met office has warned that there could be power cuts and have reached out to the UK's major mobile network providers and will continue to update with their responses accordingly. If however, you are struggling during the bad weather in getting a phone signal, here are some basic tips:-?

  • Get in touch with your mobile phone operator who will have the most upto date information and advise what you can do, they are also very quick to usually respond via their social media channels.
  • If you are at home or have access to WiFi, most services provide the ability to make WiFi calls which doesn't rely on the person that you are calling to have WiFi available to them.
  • Use Skype, Whatsapp, Apple Face Time and Facebook Messenger to also communicate via their free services although the other person does need to be connected to WiFi.
