The Wolverine

The Wolverine sees Hugh Jackman reprise his role as the bladed anti-hero in an explosive new adventure. Logan (Jackman) has travelled to Japan and is soon embroiled in a life-or-death struggle with an old foe. But being on foreign soil surrounded by factors he’s unfamiliar with – including samurais with flashing blades – he’s well out of his comfort zone both physically and emotionally.

In Japan, Logan is sucked into a fight and inevitably, this being the Far East, the battle for supremacy also includes plenty of martial arts, which might be as good a way as any to mark the anniversary of Bruce Lee’s death, 40 years ago last week.

All these action sequences are splendidly done, in particular a thrilling fight on top of a 300mph bullet train.
